What You Will Study

The B.Sc. (Honours) Sound and Music Technology is a 3 year course which can also be studied as a 4 year “sandwich” course if desired. The “sandwich” format includes a placement year, which is taken between Year 2 and Year 3.

Course Overview

Many modules are continued between years, for example the skills learnt in “Recording Studio Techniques” in Year 1 are developed further in Year 2 in the “Mixing & Mastering Techniques” module. Further examples are the “Independent Study” module in Year 2 preparing students for the "Project" dissertation module in their final year (Year 3), and the Year 2 “Contemporary Music Applications” module preparing students for modules focused on specific software in used extensively in Year 3 such as "Audio and MIDI Data Processing" (Cycling74/Ableton MAX) and "Live Performance" in Year 3 (Ableton Live).
