What You Will Study
The Fd/BA (Hons) Audio and Music Production is a 3 year course which can also be studied as a 2 year Foundation course ending at Level 5 if desired. The full BA format includes the Foundation Degree and runs as a typical 3 three year degree, giving you two oppurtunites to graduate! The teaching staff opted to move to an Fd/BA configuration as it encourages you to get involved in industry early on, getting the vital on-the-job (or shadowing-the-job) experience.
Course Overview
Many modules are continued between years, for example the skills learnt in “Recording Studio Practice” in Year 1 are developed further in Year 2 in the “Game Audio” module, then developed again in the Year 3 “Post-Production Audio Project” module, and the “Major Project” or “Client Based Project”module should you select a studio focused project.
The software used on the course includes Ableton Live & Avid Pro Tools, though for most assignments you may work in any DAW you wish. As a student you will have access to other software for free, including Adobe Creative Cloud, Arduino IDE, L'Acoustics SoundVision, Sonic Pi, VCV Rack 2, Unity Editor, and Microsoft Office.
