Careers, Employment and Collaborations

Our graduates have been successful in finding - or creating- careers both locally or further afield across the music industry. Many graduates have operated as successful freelance sound engineers, DJs or Sound Designers (for Video Games). Several graduates have set up audio-related companies such as Sound Particle Labs and Forged Sounds. Both groups of students won DigitalCity Fellowships (sponsorships) to help them develop their businesses. Another graduate started a community recording studio - One Love North East - that attracted a 22k grant from the Byker Community Trust. Another graduate runs Opal Tapes a successful Independent Record Company based in Teesside. Despite the prevalence of the ‘gig economy’, many graduates have found full time positions with local employers . . .
